About CHASE

CHASE, an acronym for Challenging Anthroposophy and Steiner Education, is an action group concerned about the growing reach and influence of Anthroposophy and Steiner education in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

CHASE exists to inform the UK public about the nature of Anthroposophy and all things to do with Rudolf Steiner and in so doing better enable the public to make their own informed decisions about Anthroposophical and Steiner beliefs and applications.

CHASE seeks as an immediate aim to clarify the Anthroposophy movement's position with regard to the incontestable racist content of Steiner texts.

CHASE is non-party political, neither endorses nor rejects any political party. However this does not prevent CHASE from making comments on public affairs insofar as they might help inform the public about the nature of Steiner/Anthroposophy and the issues involved in Steiner/Anthroposophy generally.

CHASE comprises of people coming from all walks of life, backgrounds and beliefs. Within the group currently are Pagans, a Buddhist, non-denominational Christian, lapsed Catholics, agnostics and atheists. Political opinion amongst the group is similarly diverse.

Currently, as an unconstituted group, CHASE has no formal legal identity. In case of legal challenge to anything published on the CHASE website one member has chosen to accept responsibility for all website content.

CHASE is in the process of agreeing a simple constitution. This will facilitate admin, organisation, fundraising and strengthen our voice so far as media representations and communications goes.

CHASE recognises that many people have had strongly negative experiences as a result of their engagement with Steiner/Anthroposophy.

CHASE recognises that the reaction of the Steiner/Anthroposophy community to critics, especially critics from within its own community, can be very harsh. Emotional abuse of and physical threats toward critics are known to have occurred. Whilst CHASE does not claim this to be any more prevalent within the Anthroposophic community than it might be in similar ideologically boundaried communities it is perceived as a real and potential threat. For that reason anonymity is guaranteed to anybody involved in furthering CHASE aims or in assisting with CHASE in any way whatsoever. Confidentiality and the right to privacy are assured and explain why any articles on the CHASE website might be unsigned.

CHASE welcomes your support but due to the concerns mentioned above can only accept committed support on condition of an interview and screening process. Please note though that support in the form of articles, information and so on are welcome at any time. Your support in no way obligates you to anything further in the future and, as already mentioned, complete confidentiality and your right to privacy is assured. Your support once given in no way obligates you to anything done by CHASE in the future, should you choose to remove that support or formally sever it.

CHASE does not hide behind anonymity or want to be accused of doing so. For that reason a founder member of the group, Mike Collins, accepts all responsibility for anything published on the CHASE website.
